YUME Devlog #3 9/14/22

Not sure if I should be labeling this as a Devlog or Devrambling...

Sorry for the lack of updates! As last Devrambling stated, I've been very busy. Well, I WAS very busy for a while, but now I have few excuses to not keep you updated, seeing as I have plenty of free time.

Mental health woes have left me out of school for a bit, and while I'm mostly spending this time getting myself back in one piece, I'm gonna be using that to work on YUME, too, because YUME makes me happy. I wouldn't be doing this if it didn't make me happy, all the dev frustration aside.

As I said on Twitter, I've been working on porting the final game to MV. And because MV has a higher resolution than VXAce, I have to re-do all my graphics (because just upscaling them would make them look weird and blurry). This gives me an opportunity to build a game that's closer to my original vision, rather than some silly RTP game (no shame to RTP users, it's just far harder to get those to appeal to anyone). This has extended development time by ... awhile. But the wait will be worth it, I swear!

Once I re-make all the original demo content, I may or may not re-upload it here to give you guys a better idea of what the game will actually be like...

I'm still happy with what I have, and I'll be happy with what I end up with.

I thank you. YUME thanks you.

(Below is an old scrapped cutscene drawing - "a forager's find in another realm". I'm not sure I like how it looks nowadays.)
